Still Life in the Art class

Constitution Celebrations 2015

Our school Deputy Head Ms Jose has made a lovely video has made a lovely video about the work with have done on the Constitution.  The music she has used is all excellent!  We are proud to be Spanish!

Hi there Year 3 kiddies!

Glad to have finished another week of great work with you!  Constitution Weekend is special and there's not a lot of homework.   However, you should revise a little bit for your test on Friday 11th.
Make sure you:
Marian's food diary
  • Finish your food diary.
  • Draw pictures in your unit summary.
  • Revise your exercises.
  • Listen to your CD.
  • Finish exercises 1 & 2 about leisure activities and the use of electronic games.
  • Play and enjoy life with your family.

Homework Year 3

Dear Year3 parents,
In Natural Science we are now moving on and starting Unit 3 about Healthy Habits.  Your children will take an exam on Friday 11th December in which Unit 2 & 3 will be tested together.

I take this opportunity to remind you that in our evaluation system, the exams count only for 30 percent of the final mark.  The work in their notebooks counts for 40 percent and the dossier is 30 percent.  I am finding that homework is not always completed: tasks are left undone, diagrams are unfinished and the dossiers have work missing. I have already talked to the children about the consequences that this will have on their termly marks.  We don´t want unpleasant surprises.

En Ciencias Naturales estamos comenzando la Unidad 3 sobre Hábitos de vida saludable.  Sus hij@s harán el examen de ambos temas el día 11 de diciembre.

Aprovecho esta oportunidad para recordarles que en el sistema de evaluación, el examen cuenta solamente un 30% de la notal final de la Unidad Didáctica.  El trabajo que realizan en sus cuadernos cuenta un 40% y el dosier que entregan con el examen es un 30%.  Con frecuencia veo que algunos alumn@s  siempre vienen con los deberes sin hacer: hay tareas y diagramas sin terminar, y dosieres a los que les faltan trabajos.  He hablado en clase sobre las consecuencias que esto puede tener para la nota trimestral.  No queremos sorpresas.

We love our class diary

It's great to see that you all like taking the class diary home.  There is a big waiting list  in both Year3 classes as everybody wants to contribute with lovely illustrations.  I'm glad that's happening! I´ve always loved diaries!

Es estupendo ver como os gusta llevar a casa el diario de clase.  Hay una lista de espera en las dos clases de tercero ya que todo@s quieren ilustrarlo.  ¡Me encanta que esto ocurra! Siempre me han gustado los diarios.


Year 3 Natural Science homework

A big hello to my Year 3 kiddies!
This weekend you will be working on several things:
1. Finish the exercises 2 and 3 about food.
2. Revision worksheet about nutrients.  You should do it on the worksheet itself so there is no need to copy the whole thing in your notebook.
3. Keep up with your food diary.  By Monday you should have completed day 4.
4. Do the Healthy and Unhealthy food quiz with your family.  We did it in class and it's published in this blog.
5. Dance to the song "Food groups are rockin' tonight" and practice the lyrics.

Apart from that, don't forget to eat healthy food, rest, play and be happy!

Este fin de semana trabajaréis en varias cosas:
1. Acabar los ejercicios 2 y 3 sobre la conservación de los alimentos.
2. Hacer la ficha de repaso sobre los nutrientes.  Hacedla en la ficha mismo sin copiar todo en el cuaderno.
3. Diario de comidas.  Para el lunes debéis de tener completos los primeros cuatro días.
4. Haced el quiz sobre comidas saludables en inglés con vuestras familias.  Los hicimos en clase en el ordenador y está publicado en este blog en la misma entrada del video sobre La dieta saludable.
5. Bailad la canción de los alimentos practicando la letra.

Aparte de eso, ¡no os olvidéis de comer sano, descansar, jugar y ser felices!

Our English library

We are now getting there with our English library!  We hope to have everything ready for the end of term, so we can start getting books out after the Christmas holidays.  We thank Rocío, a mum from Year2B, for her help with the library cards.  They are now ready and waiting to be laminated.

Ya casi está preparada nuestra biblioteca de libros en inglés.  Esperamos poder llevarnos libros a casa a partir del próximo trimestre.  Agradecidos a Rocío, una mamá de 2ºB, por su ayuda con los carnets de la biblioteca.  Ya los tenemos preparados para plastificarlos.


We are also making cards for each book so we know which titles we have in our library.  The cards will help us to locate the books and to put them back in the correct boxes.

Cada libro tiene una tarjeta para que sepamos que títulos tenemos en nuestra biblioteca.  Las tarjetas también nos ayudarán a localizar los libros y a devolverlos a la caja adecuada.

Red shoes in Year 6

Miss Juani's Year 6 class brought red shoes today following the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women celebrated yesterday.  The red shoes looked great in our sunny playground near the wall display we had made together.  Doing these things is important!  It's time well spent! Excellent work!

La clase de 6º de la seño Juani ha traído zapatos rojos al cole esta mañana siguiendo el Día Internacional contra la Violencia de Género celebrado ayer.  Los zapatos han quedado muy bien en el patio cerca de nuestro mural.  Hacer estas cosas es importante y nunca es tiempo perdido. ¡Bien hecho!

Hello everybody again! We have finally resolved out problems with Internet and our digital board, and we are now back in action!! In Year3 we working on Nutrition and in Year2 we are now fully into our Body protect, learning all about our bones, muscles and senses. Happy learning everybody!And this goes for everybody in the family!

Our collection of words

In Year 2 we have been collecting words with the same sounds.  This is good training for our listening skills because we learn to hear and identify sounds we don't have in Spanish.  It is also good for our spelling in English.

En 2º hemos estado coleccionando palabras con el mismo sonido.  Esto es ideal para entrenar nuestro oído porque aprendemos a escuchar e identificar sonidos que no tenemos en castellano.  También es bueno para aprender mejor la ortografía de la lengua inglesa.

Homework story for Year 2: "The Dancing Fly"

Go to the reading link, page 2, story 5.

This time we are reading The Dancing Fly.  It's a story where there are rhyming words and we need to find them.    This can be a bit complicated in English so we need to listen carefully to train our ear.  If you cannot find the words that rhyme, don't worry!  I'll give them to you on a new entry next week.  Happy reading!
