Year 2 Science: Water solutions

We tried dissolving oil, sugar, tea, salt and coffe in hot and cold water.  We found that they dissoved better in hot water.

 Cold water

Then we took some notes and did some pictures to keep a record.

It's Peace Day today

We have been doing beautiful things today to celebrate Peace Day.

The Little Princess: I want my dinner

As part of our project on castles, we are reading and performing I Want my Dinner  where the Little Princess learns that she needs to say Please and Thank you.  The book was written by Tony Ross and we love it!
We have drawn the Beastie with the Princess.  The Beastie is hairy and blue, and he likes sphaghetti.  He also has a big red nose.  Look!

Yr 3: Our Peace hearts

As part of our Peace Day celebrations, we have been making Peace hearts for our school tree.  Thank you,  D. Manuel's Yr3 class for your lovely work.

On the farm

We learnt about domestic mammals and drew some farms. Well, done! They are great!

Yr2 Science: A record of our experiments

We have been observing and recording any changes in our plants.

Our plants have certainly grown!  Our funny heads have grown hair!!

We drew two eyes, a nose and a mouth and took them home!

Parts of a flower

We have seen in class how scientific words are often very similar in Spanish and English.

If you haven't labelled the parts of a flower in your notebook, please do so now.  You need to hand in all your work on Monday (Yr2B) and Tuesday (Yr2A).  You should also do your revisión worksheets.

The rescued princess

In the Infants we were very pleased to see that the princess was rescued by the good dragon.  Our pictures are excellent!

Yr 2 Experiments: Keeping a record

In our Year2 Science lessons we have been learning how important it is to keep a record of our findings.  That is what real scientists do.  Yesterday we observed any changes, took some measurements and jotted down dates.  We also did some detailed drawings.

Before we did that, we wrote down what we needed for the experiment and the steps we followed.  We also made predictions and considered different possibilities.

We also experimented with paint and white carnations but we will have to wait till next week to see what happens.

Story: Dear Zoo

This story by Rod Campbell is now a classic.  My Year 1 classes love it!

Baby animals on the farm

In Year 1 we are learning about farm animals and their young.  The names are a bit hard but we are trying.

How are our plants doing?

Well, our plants are doing well.  Last Friday, we left some pulses in our yoghurt pots and they are actually growing!!  The lentils seem to grow faster.  Look!

Tomorrow we will do some detailed drawings.

We do like a dance!

You are great, Year 1A!  We can all see that you love a dance!  And I always have a good time with you.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Quasimodo, the Hunchback of Notre Dame
This morning the whole school went to the theatre to see The Hunchback of Notre Dame!

There is wonderful group of mums at CEIP Sebastián de Córdoba who enjoy acting and today they delighted us with this great story.  Our actresses have been together for a few years now, and we've enjoyed plays like Mary Poppins and The Lion King.  Not only do they share a good time with us but they also work hard to raise money for good causes.

Well done all of you!  Next time...in English!!!

¡Enhorabuena!  Y la próxima... ¡en inglés!

 Our great performers

Our audience waited patiently.  It was so cold!

It was nice and warm inside.
