Making cookies in Year 3

As we are studying changes matter, we decided to have some kitchen fun and make some cookies this week.  It was a great session and the biscuits were delicious!!!  Yummy, Yummy in my tummy!!!  Thanks a million to the mums that came to help and took the cookies home to bake and decorate them!

Como estamos estudiando los cambios de materia debido a la temperatura, decidimos tener un poquito de diversión en la cocina del cole e hicimos unas galletas esta semana.  Todo fue estupendamente y las galletas estaban deliciosas.  Muchas gracias a aquellas mamás que colaboraron y se llevaron las galletas a casa para hornearlas.

Everyone wanted the big spoon!

We beat the egg and mixed it with melted butter. 

We stirred in the flour and sugar.

We placed the cookies in the baking trays.

Puppets in Year 2

Our Year 2 students had a lovely time when our friends Joaquín, Según and Pepe came to do a puppet show and tell some stories.  First they did a puppet show telling the story of "The Hairy Monster" and then Joaquín read "The Gruffalo" in English.  It was fantastic!
Our friends love storytelling and belong to Úbeda Theatre School.  If you have the opportunity to see this trio again, make sure you don't miss them in action.

Thank you Joaquín, Segun and Pepe for sharing your stories with us!  We had a most enjoyable time.  AND... If you want to come to our class again, we will be telling you the stories!

Nuestras clases de 2º lo pasaron estupendamente ayer cuando nuestros amigos Joaquín, Segun y Pepe vinieron a clase contarnos cuentos con sus marionetas.  Primero representaron un cuento titulado "El Monstruo Peludo", y después Joaquín, que además es el papá de Lucía de 2ºB, nos contó "El Gruffalo" en inglés.  A nuestros amigos los titiriteros les encanta contar cuentos y pertenecen a la Escuela Municipal de Teatro de Úbeda.  Si tenéis la oportunidad de verlos de nuevo, no os los perdáis.

Gracias a los tres por compartir vuestros cuentos con nosotros.  Lo pasamos muy bien Y... si queréis venir a nuestra clase otra vez, seremos nosotros los que os contemos algún cuento.

Homework Year 3

Hi everyone!
I knew you wouldn't let me down with your investigations about salt water lakes.  Your work is fantastic and I have learnt a lot this morning.  We have found out that there are indeed lakes that have salt water and that there are salt water rivers too.  Sometimes these lakes have more salt than the water in the sea.  Next week we will be publishing all our findings.

This weekend, please read and study about rivers and do the three exercises in the Working with the picture box.  Use the Spanish Social Science book (pages 52/53).

Sabía que no me decepcionaríais con vuestra investigaciones sobre los lagos de agua salada.  Vuestro trabajo es fantástico y he aprendido mucho esta mañana.  Hemos descubierto que realmente sí existen los lagos de agua salada y que también hay ríos salados.  Algunas veces estos lagos tienen más cantidad de sal que el agua del mar.  La próxima semana publicaremos lo que hemos descubierto.

Este fin de semana, por favor leed y estudiad la parte sobre los ríos y haced los ejercicios de la sección "Trabaja con la Imagen" del libro de Ciencias Sociales en español (páginas 52/53).

Chess and bloggers in Year 2B

Andalusian Recipes

Our Year 3 classes have been writing recipes of delicious Andalusian food.  First they did some research and asked their parents and grandparents about traditional dishes. Then they all wrote the recipes both in Spanish and English.   Now their work is decorating our school walls and soon we will be making a book which will be kept in the bilingual class library!

Nuestros alumno@s de 3º han escrito recetas de comidas típicas andaluzas.  Primero investigaron un poco y preguntaron a sus padres y abuelos sobre los platos más tradicionales.  Después escribieron sus recetas en español y en inglés.  Todos los trabajos están ahora decorando los pasillos del colegio y pronto haremos un libro de cocina para nuestra biblioteca en el aula bilingüe.

Year 2 Class Diaries

We are now keeping a class diary in the Year 2 classes.  Everybody wants to take it home and tell about our daily news.  We just have to be very patient because we will all take it in the end.

Ya tenemos un diario en 2º.  Todos queremos llevarlo a casa y contar nuestras noticias.  Tenemos que ser pacientes porque al final todos tendremos la oportunidad de llevarlo.

We love our class diary

It's great to see that you all like taking the class diary home.  There is a big waiting list  in both Year3 classes as everybody wants to contribute with lovely illustrations.  I'm glad that's happening! I´ve always loved diaries!

Es estupendo ver como os gusta llevar a casa el diario de clase.  Hay una lista de espera en las dos clases de tercero ya que todo@s quieren ilustrarlo.  ¡Me encanta que esto ocurra! Siempre me han gustado los diarios.

Our English library

We are now getting there with our English library!  We hope to have everything ready for the end of term, so we can start getting books out after the Christmas holidays.  We thank Rocío, a mum from Year2B, for her help with the library cards.  They are now ready and waiting to be laminated.

Ya casi está preparada nuestra biblioteca de libros en inglés.  Esperamos poder llevarnos libros a casa a partir del próximo trimestre.  Agradecidos a Rocío, una mamá de 2ºB, por su ayuda con los carnets de la biblioteca.  Ya los tenemos preparados para plastificarlos.

We are also making cards for each book so we know which titles we have in our library.  The cards will help us to locate the books and to put them back in the correct boxes.

Cada libro tiene una tarjeta para que sepamos que títulos tenemos en nuestra biblioteca.  Las tarjetas también nos ayudarán a localizar los libros y a devolverlos a la caja adecuada.

Stories: The Pied Piper of Hamelin

Thank you Paula (Year3B) for sharing your book with us.  Reading The Pied Piper of Hamelin together has been great fun.  I can see that you all understand a lot of English now!  Well done! there will be more!

Trip to the Science Park in Granada

We had a lovely time yesterday in the Science Park in Granada.  It was really hot but we enjoyed the day and learnt many things about Science.

Los pasamos muy bien ayer en el Parque de las Ciencias de Granada.  Hizo mucho calor pero disfrutamos mucho todos juntos y aprendimos muchas cosas científicas.

Our Year 2 classes at a concert today

The teachers at the Conservatoire "Maria de Molina" of Ubeda delighted us with their performance at the Hospital de Santiago.  We were told about the different instruments in the orchestra and they played beautifully.  Very enjoyable!

Infants 5: Invisible balls

We love playing with our invisible colourful balls.  We use our imagination and learn English having fun!  This time we thought about our favourite colours and just threw our colourful balls up in the air. Beautiful!

Nos encanta jugar con nuestras pelotas invisibles.  Usamos nuestra imaginación y aprendemos inglés divirtiéndonos un montón.  Esta vez pensamos en nuestros colores favoritos y lanzamos al aire nuestras pelotas de colores.  ¡Son preciosas!
