La Tierra y el Sistema Solar

Visita a las Jornadas de la Ciencia

Ayer las dos clase de 2º estuvimos en las VIII Jornadas de la Ciencia organizadas en el Hospital de Santiago.  Vimos muchos experimentos interesantes y nos dimos cuenta de que hemos aprendido mucho sobre la ciencia con lo que hemos estudiado durante este curso.  Todavía queda un trimestre en el que seguiremos experimentado e investigando.  Ahí van algunas fotos pero iré subiendo más.

Homework Yr2: The food pyramid

This weekend we are working on an individual food pyramid.  It's similar to the one we have done at school but this time you have the names of the foods in English.  You can either cut little photographs of those foods and stick them on your pyramid, or draw & color your own pictures. Don´t forget to watch the videos on the digestive system so you revise new concepts.

Este fin de semana vamos a trabajar en nuestra pirámide de los alimentos de forma individual.  Es parecida a la que hemos hecho en clase pero tiene los nombres de los alimentos en inglés.  Podéis pegar los alimentos recortándolos de pequeñas revistas de los supermercados, o bien dibujarlos y colorearlos vosotros mismos.  No os olvidéis de ver los videos del aparato digestivo para repasar los contenidos nuevos de esta semana.

You know that we are going to start our new project about SPACE in a couple of weeks.  The project is called JEDI SCHOOL: MISSION EARTH and I've designed it as a rol game in which you will have lots of challenges.  I've selected a few videos you may find helpful to start with.  There are five videos but you don't have to watch them all in one go! Sabéis que vamos a comenzar un projecto sobre el ESPACIO en un par de semanas.  El projecto se llama ESCUELA DE JEDIS: MISSION LA TIERRA y lo he diseñando como un juego de roles en el que tendréis muchos retos.  He seleccionado unos cuantos videos en español que os pueden servir para empezar.  ¡Hay cinco pero no tienes que verlos todos al mismo tiempo! ¡Disfrutad y feliz aprendizaje!

Year 2A Baking session!

Sorry it took my so long to make this entry! I've been really busy these past few days.
The important thing is that you can see the photos now!
Alberto's mum came to help with the cookies and took them home to bake.  Then Alberto helped her with the decoration in the afternoon.  Thank you Mariani! The cookies were lovely!

¡Mil disculpas! He estado muy ocupada en los últimos días y no he podido subir las fotos.  Lo importante es que las podéis ver ahora.
La mamá de Alberto vino para ayudarnos a hacer las galletas y se las llevó a casa para hornear.  Alberto ayudó por la tarde a decorarlas.  ¡Gracias Mariani!  ¡Las galletas estaban en su punto!

Year 2B: Sara bakes with us!

We were so lucky to have Sara in our baking class yesterday!  Sara is Miguel's mum and a professional biscuit maker in her own shop "La Boutique del Dulce".  She brought all her equipment with her and made the dough for our cookies in a special machine.  Then we used a rolling pin to flatten the dough and cut out the cookies.  It was great fun! Thank you, Sara!

Ayer nos visitó Sara durante nuestra clase de cocina.  Sara es la mamá de Miguel y una repostera profesional in her own shop "La Boutique del Dulce".  Trajo toda su maquinaria e hizo la masa de las galletas en una máquina especial.  Después usamos el rodillo para dejar lisa la masa y cortamos las galletas.  ¡Muy divertido! ¡Muchas gracias, Sara!

Year 2: Materials

We now know quite a lot about materials and their properties.  We have made some posters in groups and classified the materials according to their characteristics: hard/soft, elastic and flexible / rigid, resistant/fragile, transparent/opaque, waterproof/permeable.  As you can all see, we are learning a lot of science... And our scientific vocabulary in English is also coming along quite nicely!!

Sabemos ya bastante sobre los materiales y sus propiedades.  Hemos elaborado posters y clasificado los materiales de acuerdo con sus características: duro/blando, elástico y flexible/rígido, resistente/frágil, transparente/opaco, permeable/impermeable.  Como podéis ver, estamos aprendiendo mucha ciencia, y además nuestro vocabulario científico en inglés ¡es cada vez más amplio!
