Puppets in Year 2

Our Year 2 students had a lovely time when our friends Joaquín, Según and Pepe came to do a puppet show and tell some stories.  First they did a puppet show telling the story of "The Hairy Monster" and then Joaquín read "The Gruffalo" in English.  It was fantastic!
Our friends love storytelling and belong to Úbeda Theatre School.  If you have the opportunity to see this trio again, make sure you don't miss them in action.

Thank you Joaquín, Segun and Pepe for sharing your stories with us!  We had a most enjoyable time.  AND... If you want to come to our class again, we will be telling you the stories!

Nuestras clases de 2º lo pasaron estupendamente ayer cuando nuestros amigos Joaquín, Segun y Pepe vinieron a clase contarnos cuentos con sus marionetas.  Primero representaron un cuento titulado "El Monstruo Peludo", y después Joaquín, que además es el papá de Lucía de 2ºB, nos contó "El Gruffalo" en inglés.  A nuestros amigos los titiriteros les encanta contar cuentos y pertenecen a la Escuela Municipal de Teatro de Úbeda.  Si tenéis la oportunidad de verlos de nuevo, no os los perdáis.

Gracias a los tres por compartir vuestros cuentos con nosotros.  Lo pasamos muy bien Y... si queréis venir a nuestra clase otra vez, seremos nosotros los que os contemos algún cuento.

Year 2 Class Diaries

We are now keeping a class diary in the Year 2 classes.  Everybody wants to take it home and tell about our daily news.  We just have to be very patient because we will all take it in the end.

Ya tenemos un diario en 2º.  Todos queremos llevarlo a casa y contar nuestras noticias.  Tenemos que ser pacientes porque al final todos tendremos la oportunidad de llevarlo.

Our English library

We are now getting there with our English library!  We hope to have everything ready for the end of term, so we can start getting books out after the Christmas holidays.  We thank Rocío, a mum from Year2B, for her help with the library cards.  They are now ready and waiting to be laminated.

Ya casi está preparada nuestra biblioteca de libros en inglés.  Esperamos poder llevarnos libros a casa a partir del próximo trimestre.  Agradecidos a Rocío, una mamá de 2ºB, por su ayuda con los carnets de la biblioteca.  Ya los tenemos preparados para plastificarlos.

We are also making cards for each book so we know which titles we have in our library.  The cards will help us to locate the books and to put them back in the correct boxes.

Cada libro tiene una tarjeta para que sepamos que títulos tenemos en nuestra biblioteca.  Las tarjetas también nos ayudarán a localizar los libros y a devolverlos a la caja adecuada.

We loved this song in the Year2 class. We dance, sing and read the lyrics ... and we learn a lot!!!

Silvia's trip to London

Another little book for our Portfolio.  This time Silvia travelled to London!

Our collection of words

In Year 2 we have been collecting words with the same sounds.  This is good training for our listening skills because we learn to hear and identify sounds we don't have in Spanish.  It is also good for our spelling in English.

En 2º hemos estado coleccionando palabras con el mismo sonido.  Esto es ideal para entrenar nuestro oído porque aprendemos a escuchar e identificar sonidos que no tenemos en castellano.  También es bueno para aprender mejor la ortografía de la lengua inglesa.

Homework story for Year 2: "The Dancing Fly"

This time we are reading The Dancing Fly.  It's a story where there are rhyming words and we need to find them.    This can be a bit complicated in English so we need to listen carefully to train our ear.  If you cannot find the words that rhyme, don't worry!  I'll give them to you on a new entry next week.  Happy reading!

Dolch words key rings

Hello everyone!  The best thing to use to hold your Dolch words is a flange, because we can open it and add more words when we need to.   I used a flange with mine.

Follow the word order shown in the photographs to put yours together.

La mejor forma de tener vuestras tarjetas juntas es usar una brida ya que después iremos añadiendo más palabras y la brida es fácil de abrir y cerrar.  Yo he usado una brida con las mias.

Para poner las palabras juntas seguid el orden que tienen en las fotografías.

Yr 2 Experiments: Keeping a record

In our Year2 Science lessons we have been learning how important it is to keep a record of our findings.  That is what real scientists do.  Yesterday we observed any changes, took some measurements and jotted down dates.  We also did some detailed drawings.

Before we did that, we wrote down what we needed for the experiment and the steps we followed.  We also made predictions and considered different possibilities.

En la clase de ciencias de 2º hemos aprendido lo importante que es anotar nuestros descubrimientos.  Eso es lo que hacen los científicos de verdad.  Ayer observamos los cambios, medimos, y anotamos fechas.  También hicimos dibujos más detallados.

Antes de ello, escribimos lo que necesitamos para el experimento y los pasos a seguir para realizarlo.  también hicimos predicciones y consideramos varias posibilidades.

We also experimented with paint and white carnations but we will have to wait till next week to see what happens.

Message for my Yr 2! A yoghurt pot please!

Please, remember to bring an empty yoghurt pot with you tomorrow so you can finish the experiment we started on Friday.

Our first PEL session

Well done, Yr2! Our first Portfolio session was good but we need to work more on our oral skills. During the next couple of weeks we will practice asking about personal information and I'm sure you will do well.  These are the questions we need to learn... and we will learn how to answer them too.

Los alumnos/as de 2º han trabajado  muy bien durante su primera sesión con el Portfolio Europeo de las Lenguas, pero hemos visto que hace falta practicar nuestro lenguaje oral.  Durante la próxima quincena,  aprenderemos a hacer preguntas a nuestros compañeros/as y las responderemos también.
